Homecoming Class Hallway Decorations—One of the fall homecoming traditions is hallway decorating. Each class comes up with their own theme and decorates their hall accordingly. Usually, there is a clear winner and a clear loser. However, this year all four classes did a great job on their hallway decorations, making the judging extra tough. Kudos to all the students who helped with decorations!

Cold weather—Over the summer, the heat was brutal. Now, it seems as though we have completely skipped over fall weather and jumped straight to winter. Of course, this is your typical Kansas weather. Although some people are not fans of this new cold front, at least we’re not about to have a heat stroke. The temperature is constantly going back and forth, up and down—but, this week has actually been pretty good.

Laptops/Printers—Students and teachers know all about the issues regarding our COWs and printers. Half of the time, the laptops won’t even let students log on; and when they do, they are extremely slow. The computer takes forever to start and the Internet is even slower. When students want to print from one of the laptops, it is a gamble on whether or not the printer will actually work. Most of the time, we have to print to the library or save it on a flash drive to print at home. These are just a couple of the frustrations both students and teachers share when it comes to technology.

School Spirit during Star Search—Homecoming Week:  It’s all about school spirit. Unfortunately, there were a handful of seniors who decided to ruin that school spirit for everyone when they were asked to “challenge” another grade with their class chant. Normally, when we gather in the auditorium, the seniors will stand up and shout their graduating year at the juniors, sophomores or freshmen, such as, “Thirteen, thirteen, twenty, twenty, thirteen!” Then the other class will retaliate and they will go back and forth. To end the battle, seniors will yell, “S-E-N-I-O-R-S, seniors, seniors are the best!” But, this year, when Mr. Worthington (MC of Star Search) asked the seniors what class they would like to challenge first, they sat there and held up a “0” with their hand. Representing the “0” cares they have. Not only was this disrespectful to Mr. Worthington, but it was also a slap in the face to all of those students who worked hard to promote school spirit and have a fun week. It’s unfortunate that some students believe they are “too cool” to lighten up and have a little fun. If you don’t want to participate, then fine. But it’s not fair to ruin the spirit for the rest of the school. So, congratulations to those seniors who can forever look back and remember the “0” fun and negative attitudes they displayed during their last high school Fall Homecoming.
